Here’s what millennials can teach you about hiring and keeping good employees

Hiring lessons from millennials.

Millennials have a lot to teach other business owners when it comes to hiring good employees and getting them to stick around.

“While holding onto great talent is a real struggle for business owners, those in the millennial set could be better equipped than their older counterparts to handle it, namely because they think differently about their workforce,” writes Troy Dye in a post on Capital One Spark’s website.

Here are some ideas millennials are using to successfully hire and retain workers, according to Dye:

  • Take time to find employees who will be a good fit for your company including getting employees to be part of the interview process
  • Allow employees some flexibility in how they do their job, including the ability to work from home
  • Offer opportunities for advancement and professional growth
  • Show appreciation for good work, such as giving employees the day off on their birthday
