Seeking a job with some flexibility?

Workers are more likely to find it at a small business rather than a large company, writes Kathryn Sollmann, a career coach and guest writer for Entrepreneur magazine’s website.

Sollmann looked at a national survey of employers done for the Society of Human Resource Management and the Families at Work Institute.

Among some of the findings:

  • Small businesses (57 percent) are more likely than large companies (42 percent) to let workers return to work gradually after childbirth or adoption.
  • Small businesses (51 percent) are more likely than large companies (33 percent) to let employees take time off to care for family or personal needs
  • Small businesses (10 percent) are more likely than large companies (4 percent) to let employees spread their hours over fewer days
