It seems like happiness and owning one’s own business go hand-in-hand.

Thirty-seven percent of current and would-be small business owners rated their happiness a “10” on a scale of 1-to-10, according to a survey by small business lender Guidant Financial and LendingClub.

The average rating was “8” and almost three-quarters of the more than 2,700 people surveyed (73 percent) rated their happiness at “8” or better.

Still, running a small business is not without its challenges.

Thirty-three percent of those surveyed said lack of capital/cash flow was their biggest hurdle, followed by:

• Marketing and advertising: 15 percent
• Time management: 13 percent
• Employee recruiting and retention: 13 percent
• Administrative work: 13 percent
• Managing and providing benefits: 6 percent.
