SAS Nanotechnolgies a winner of AkzoNobel international startup competition

SAS Nanotechnologies has been named one of the winners of an international competition organized by AkzoNobel, the Netherlands-based paint and coatings maker.

SAS, which is located in Newark, has developed an additive that prevents paints and other coatings from corroding and heals existing corrosion.

The company will collaborate with AkzoNobel through a joint development agreement it was awarded as part of AkzoNobel’s Paint the Future global startup challenge.

It’s the latest milestone for SAS Nanotechnologies, which in April was recommended by the Council on Development Finance for a $50,000 Delaware Technical Innovation Program research grant.

The Division worked with the company on its application and made a presentation about it at the CDF meeting on April 29.

Last year, SAS Nanotechnologies won the New Castle County Emerging Enterprise Center’s Swim with the Sharks pitch competition.
