Looking to open a business in downtown Dover? Unlock the Block is back

Did you know more than 98% of businesses in Delaware are small businesses?

The Unlock the Block initiative is back for a second year and this time, in addition to trying to recruit businesses to downtown Dover, the organizers are also looking to assists existing downtown businesses planning to expand.

The program tries to find commercial tenants to fill vacant storefronts on or near Loockerman Street.

Business owners pitch their proposals to a panel of judges and the winners receive a customized package of incentives that include some combination of support services, advertising/marketing or accounting help, web design or financial assistance.

Multiple downtown commercial properties are available for lease through the program.
