New Castle County and the Committee of 100 announced a new program Wednesday offering grants of up to $5,000 to restaurants in New Castle County to purchase equipment so they can continue offering outdoor dining once the weather turns cold.

Restaurants will be able to spend the Winter Ready Restaurant Grant on items such as heaters, tents, lighting and outdoor furniture.

The program is open to independent restaurants located in New Castle County or restaurant franchises based in Delaware.

Up to $300,000 in grants is available under the program.

Applications are being accepted now.
