  Kathleen S. Matt\, PhD grew up in Newark\, worked at Bing’s Bakery on
  Main Street\, graduated from Newark High School\, and earned her bach
 elor's and master's degrees in biology from the University of Delaware
 . After receiving her PhD in Neuroendocrinology from University of Was
 hington\, Seattle\, Dr. Matt spent time at Arizona State University an
 d with the Senate in Washington\, D.C.\n\nDr. Matt made her way back t
 o Delaware in 2009 to serve as the dean of the UD College of Health Sc
 iences. During her tenure as dean\, she has grown the college at the u
 ndergraduate and graduate level to include seven departments: Nursing\
 , Physical Therapy\, Communication Sciences and Disorders\, Behavioral
  Health and Nutrition\, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology\, Medical a
 nd Molecular Sciences\, and Epidemiology. Along with the growth of dep
 artments in the college\, research development in the college has expa
 nded over 300%.\n\nWith the mindset that health outcomes are advanced 
 through the power of partnerships\, Dr. Matt was instrumental in creat
 ing the Science\, Technology\, and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus—cre
 ated on the site of a former Chrysler assembly plant. Her vision for t
 he STAR Campus was to create a platform that facilitates collaboration
 s engaging academia\, businesses\, and the community with the intent o
 f enhancing health outcomes and growing economic development.\n\nTo sa
 y the First State means a lot to Dr. Matt is an understatement. Join u
