Dover launches utility bill deferral program for small businesses


Small businesses in Dover may be able to defer their utility bill payments under a progam introduced by the city.

The program is open to businesses with 35 employees or fewer whose revenue has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The utility bills must be repaid in full, interest-free by Jan. 31, 2023.

Apply by Oct. 31, 2021 at www.cityofdover.com

To be eligible for the program, businesses must also:

Be a viable business with current City of Dover and state of Delaware business licenses

Have been curent on their utility bill on March 1, 2020

Not have been subject to utility disconnection more than once from March 1, 2019 through Feb. 29, 2020

Must have a physical location within the City of Dover and be a commercial utility customer in utility classes C, C1, C2, C3 or C5.

Must have had all property tax and other tax payments current on March 1, 2020.
