The number of women-owned businesses in Delaware increased by double digits from 2014 to 2019, according to a newly released report commissioned by American Express.
There are an estimated 29,833 businesses in Delaware owned by women, an 11.3 percent gain from 2014, according to the latest State of Women-Owned Businesses Report.
Women-owned businesses also saw increases in employment (up 7.7 percent to 30,277) and sales (up 11.2 percent to $4.01 billion) from 2014 to 2019.
Delaware ranked ninth in the U.S. in job growth among women-owned businesses, 16th in growth in the number of businesses and 18th in revenue growth.
Nationally, there are an estimated 12.9 million women-owned firms, employing almost 9.4 million people and generating revenue of more than $1.8 trillion.
