Determine if your business idea is a sound one before starting your small business

Before investing your time, effort and finances into building a business, it’s important to determine first whether your idea will fly with your target market.

In a column in Entrepreneur.com, contributor Adam Bernstein offers some important suggestions that would-be business owners shouldn’t overlook.

Identify your core consumers and come up with a product or service that will fit their needs, Bernstein suggests.

Don’t expect your product to be perfect at launch, he adds. Get it out into the market and ask consumers for their reactions. Then, make adjustments based upon the feedback you get.

Also, SCORE Delaware is offering a free workshop that will teach you how to assess your business idea.

The workshop is Nov. 12 at the Route 9 Public Library in New Castle.
