First Dover Make Me a Match a big success

The Division of Small Business brought its Make Me a Match supplier networking event to Kent County for the first time on Jan. 8.

The morning workshop at the Kent County Levy Court building gave central Delaware small business owners the chance to hear from and have one-on-one conversations with representatives from some of the area’s largest employers.

Officials from Chesapeake Utilities, Eden Hill Medical Center and Delaware State University discussed how they select suppliers of goods and services. They also offered suggestions on how small businesses can position themselves to be selected as a vendor.

“This was a great opportunity for small business owners from Kent County to make connections with larger businesses and begin conversations that could potentially lead to a contract,” said Patty Cannon, Director of Special Projects for the Division of Small Business.

The Division of Small Business partnered with the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce and Choose Central Delaware to bring Make Me a Match to Match to Dover. Two previous events were in Wilmington.

“We were excited to be able to combine our monthly Coffee Coaching with the Division’s Make Me a Match concept.” said Judy Diogo, president of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce. “It was clear that the small business owners who participated, including our members, learned a great deal during the event.”
