Get assistance increasing exports for your company

Export Delaware receives $268,096 STEP award from SBA.

If you’re a  Delaware small business owner whose company exports its products overseas or who wants to expand into foreign markets, you could benefit from an award the U.S. Small Business Administration has given to the state of Delaware.

In October it was announced that a $268,096 State Trade and Export Promotion award will go to Export Delaware, an agency within the Delaware Department of State, that works to increase exports by Delaware companies.

Delaware will match a portion of the STEP award by providing an additional $89,365, for a total of $357,461.

Export Delaware will use the money for export-related marketing programs, including trade missions for Delaware companies to Colombia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. South Korea, Southeast Asia and Australia and New Zealand.

A substantial portion of the grant will be used so small-to-medium size companies can attend overseas trade shows and develop marketing materials for overseas markets.

“The STEP grants from the SBA make our strategic export program possible,” Secretary of State Jeffrey Bullock said in a news release. “It’s proven to be a tremendous asset to our small businesses and a significant source of growth for Delaware’s economy.”

Businesses that have participated in Export Delaware programs have reported $16 million in new exports and expect an additional $109 million in the coming two years.
