The Horn Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Delaware has been awarded a $50,000 federal grant for its initiative that helps commercialize STEM research conducted at the university.

Horn’s Blue Hen Proof of Concept program is one of 60 incubator or accelerator programs from 39 states that will share $3 million as winners of a competition run by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Investment and Innovation, according to a news release.

The Blue Hen Proof of Concept program provides business training and gap funding for University of Delaware faculty, researchers, staff and students looking to turn their research into commercially viable products and services. The funding supports early stage needs including developing prototypes.

The program is currently accepting applications, which are due by Nov. 8.
