The Delaware Department of Labor has made changes to the unemployment benefits program to assist hospitality industry employees affected by Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
DOL will begin processing unemployment claims as they are received, with the goal of making benefits available within a week.
DOL will permit hospitality employees to earn part-time income while collecting benefits provided employees can demonstrate their decreased hours and earnings.
Also, DOL will not classify tipped workers as minimum wage earners as long as their tips are reported as wages.
